Went there tonight and will never go back. What a joke. It took 45 to even get our soup and we had to ask the busboy for it. The waitress had no idea who was seated first and took our order after taking two other orders that came in way after us. Even after she knew we were upset over waiting so long, she brought our food after one hour, with no apology. Never saw her again and was shorted on my order. We had to go to the cashier to get our check. It was only two of us. This is the first time in my entire life I didn't leave a tip! The person paying before me was complaining too and said he wouldn't be back. They never even asked why because they didn't care. never again, and the food was only average!!!!

I'd say five, but there are better chinese joints in the area for the money. They come in 10% high on cost vs. market, but the food is solid and I've been back a few times with friends and family. Now, comparing cost to decor and service, I'd say they balance out pretty nicely. They have a good looking set-up (and fat koi) with well dressed and manor'ed staff. Good for a date or holiday dinning. Clean and straight forward food.

I am so glad I found this place. The food was good and the customer service was good. The girl was new but yeah I would definitely return. The portion was very large. They allowed me to swap out the shrimp and crab rangoon for an extra egg roll. There was a sign on the door that they were not currently serving sushi. I liked their sweet and sour chicken better than joy luck. I like they are open til ten.

Great tasting food at very reasonable prices for the portion sizes. Service was very pleasant also.

The food here is top notch. We've been eating here for about 5 years now. It is run by actual immigrants, be sure to check out the coy tank (as in too many fish but they are huge!) and the article on the West wall waiting area about their move to Utah. I would have given it five starts, but occasionally the in restaurant servers fumble; never any problems with takeout.

Ate there for the first time and it was great. We had the Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken Combo, General Tsao Chicken and the pork Gyoza pan fried. Everything was delicious. We also appreciated the fried noodle appetizer they provide complimentary. The portions were huge and we left with enough for lunch tomorrow. The Gyoza were some of the best I've ever had. The service was great too. We just found our new favorite Chinese restaurant.

I had not been a fan of China Star, but my family liked it so I have eaten here for a couple years. However, it appears they recently changed management because the food and service have both become more consistent, along with other notable changes to interior decor and take out packaging. I am a fan of their sesame chicken and orange beef.

Ick. I had been here years ago and it was really good. My husband and I went tonight and were totally disgusted. Everything tasted slightly of cleaner from the wonton chip appetizer to the soup to the entrees. My husband ordered the orange chicken, his chicken was extremely chewy and he chomped on something hard and crunchy (best case scenario: maybe a tendon or something from the chicken?), I ordered the sesame chicken and it again had a weird after taste like cleaner or bleach or something. We ate hardly anything, the staff was clueless, and although the portions were generous, I felt the poor quality was overpriced. We usually go to Joy Luck down the street...definitely will be sticking with that from now on.

I'll give them an A for quality, service, cleanliness and portions. We ordered the combination B, and selected the garlic chicken and sesame chicken. Out hot and sour soup did not disappoint. The consistency and flavor was on point, followed by the appetizers which consisted of a delicious tin wrapped chicken (I should have ordered extra to go, yumm) and a cream cheese and green onion wonton and eggroll. I will definitely return when I am in the bountiful area.

We have gone here a lot because the food is consistently good. I have a tried something different almost every time and it is always good. Portion size is great and you should never leave hungry. Its not fancy bit that is what I love about. China Star is family owned and I like supporting this non chain local business.

My husband and I love this place! The service sometimes is crappy when eating inside but we still like to go there for a quiet evening. No complaints with take out. Food is always great!

Consistantly suprisingly great Chinese food! The best non-upscale Chinese spot in Utah, for sure. I've never eaten any thing poor or off-collar here... Every item tastes fresh and flavorful and the restaurant is very clean. I recommend their tin-foil wrapped chicken. I so miss it all the way from Michigan.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
